Leading Change - Why and How?

"If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail."
Abraham Maslow

Whether you are a parent, educator, grandparent, aunty, uncle or a person who has seen a child. You will see that no two are the same. They may have similarities to others in appearance, character traits even experiences but the intricate fibres of the three together are a unique pattern that creates an even more unique individual. This individual has ideas, opinions and represents a creative force that we need yet are failing when providing educational experiences that reflect their needs.

Here is a fabulous video of what we CAN achieve for the beautiful people who will be running the planet in the future. Please take time to think about the ideas it presents. How can you achieve a small part of this in your classroom?

Humans now realize it is essential for educators to develop a variety of pedagogical tools in order to engage and support learners along their education path. Here are 3 very simple tools to use to instantly improve your effectiveness in the classroom.

1. Show Up

- Be available and present at meetings, class time and get involved. Be seen as a part of the class, the school and the wider community. If you are not there then you and the kids miss out.

2. Power of Voice

- This means using your voice positively. Ask questions if unsure, think about the problem, shape it into an agenda and seek support from others. Talk calmly and work to make your communication and agenda clear.

3. Look Up

- Examine what your values are. Why are you in education? What are you values in relation to the raising, education and protection of children on the planet? What do you stand for and believe in?Often we can get weighed down with policy, planning and political nonsense that makes us lose sight of the real reason why we are all in our chosen fields. Have a vision and stand for it. Speak it out and I encourage you to begin every meeting with the vision and values in mind.

These points were taken from a very inspiring lady called Rosabeth Moss Kanter from Harvard Business School If you like the tool ideas I have shared with you. Then follow this link  and watch the entire presentation.
